WHO IS BEN STIVERS?
In the beginning I used to joke and call myself a "painting slave". I was working 10 hour days, 7 days a week. But It was all for a reason.
Today I make enough money to leave town when I want. I can do what I want, when I want, without asking anyone. For me, it was worth being a painting slave for a few years. I spend a lot of time in Vietnam, riding my motorcycle, eating noodles, and enjoying my morning coffee. Here's a pic of me in Ho Chi Minh City on my Yamaha outside my favorite coffee spot.

This is for painters who want to make a lot of money as a solo owner/operator.
Some of those online marketing dudes are always trying to get us to scale our company and build this huge business. In reality, most of us don't even want that. We want to paint. We also want a full calendar, high paying jobs, and awesome customers.

This is my painting story.
Until I was about 29, I was doing graphic design, struggling to find clients, learning about sales and marketing along the way... but it sucked. My step dad taught me how to paint houses since I was 18. It was always a summer job, though. Eventually I realized I could actually build a painting business. Four years later, I have a small team, painting for me. They paint and make me money. When I also paint, doing my own separate projects (alone) I make even more money. I can still do $30k in revenue by myself while doing all the estimating and project management for both crews (them and me).
I've built a business around freedom. I also pride myself on helping my team learn about the business so one day, they can also have their own painting business.
